H3O Hike Events
May 7, 2022: Chattahoochee River, Island Ford Day Hike, Sandy Springs, GA. Hike Event #1
The kids had a blast! We were blessed to take 5 kids from The Drake House (thedrakehouse.org) on a day hike. We even explored a really cool rock overhang! Some of the kids in this group had never been hiking before. Hearing their laughter and seeing them skip happily down the trail reminded me of how precious these children are and what a privilege it is for H3O to be able to take them hiking. October 8, 2022: Chattahoochee River, Island Ford Day Hike, Sandy Springs, GA. Hike Event #2
What an awesome fall hike event! The weather was perfect and the kids had a great time on our second H3O hike event with The Drake House. Nine sweet, highly energetic kids joined the hike this time. We discussed snake and poison ivy safety, as well as discussing what would happen if your friend sprained their ankle on the trail. See pics and video below. Thanks!
October 22, 2022: Cochran Mill Park, Chattahoochee Hills, GA. Hike Event #3
Another great fall hike event! We were blessed to hold a H3O Hike Event with Love T. Nolan Elementary School at Cochran Mill, which is a beautiful park just west of Atlanta. Parents, teachers and 11 terrific kids met us in the parking lot of the park after school. The hike started with an awesome waterfall. The kids enjoyed playing alongside the creek that flowed near the trail. We discussed what LNT means in the hiking community (leave no trace). We finished the hike with a demonstration of my backpacking stove and how to cook on the trail. Awesome hike and an awesome elementary school!
June 27, 2023: Fort Yargo State Park, Winder, GA. Hike Event #4
Super fun summer hike event! Had a blast with Ms. Dorothea and 10 great kids from the S.A.Y. in Need organization (www.sayinneed.org). The weather was warm but the trail was shaded as we hiked next to the beautiful lake. Had a great lunch afterwards on the visitor center patio overlooking the lake. What a fun time with these fantastic kids. See pics and video below!
Sept 30, 2023: Cochran Miill Park, Palmetto, GA. Hike Event #5
Great hike event on a beautiful fall day! Kids, teachers, parents...all enjoyed the waterfall and hiking trail in this really nice park.
Nov 18, 2023: Wilkins Greenway, Winder, GA. Hike Event #6
What a nice greenway! The kids had a great time, especially exploring the side stream which of course ended up getting a few shoes wet. Fun time!
